Tour of New Zealand

Some free time tonight so I’m writing. We have completed 320k in four days. 40 riders here in the north island.
We started at cape reinga. Pretty special looking out to sea from there.
Wonderful to be in tropical north. Some rain but 23 degs. Finished awanui and headed for the ferry at rawene to cross the hokianga.
We reached our destination at omapere/ andstayed at copthorne right on waters edge. Fabulous night and beautiful food.
Day2 we rode from Tane mahuta to dargaville where we were entertained by the proprietors of the commercial hotel. Quirky and delightful with fab food.
Day 3 we rode to brynderwyn on north side Auckland city. Drove south to tuakau for another gorgeous night at la valla. An ex seminary complex.
Day 4 a tough ride to the turn off to raglan from tuakau. We are certainly staying in all the one horse towns. I like it!
We are bunking down tonight at waitomo. Gorgeous native bush setting.

Anyway, we are having a social time and my cycling is improving. I’m starting to love hills! Problem is, everyone else is improving too, so I’m generally at the back of the field!

Definitely keen to come back up around Xmas with Daniel and do some more. I love the kaipara/ dargaville area. It’s pretty remote and down home.
